SO I found the turbofloorplan home and landscape pro 12   exe file
loaded into the old XP computer.
it seems to run.
but thinks the old files are too new for it.
so i tried installing turbo 14 TFPPRO_14_0_C1_637.exe.
it wont install
see error message.
i downloaded the latest version onto the vista computer but my creative ideas exceed the 15 day trial period.
so i would kinda like ver 14 to work.
UPDATE*** now with ver 12 it is looking for an external catalog before it will start working - see below
help!!!!!!!
thanks

There are a number of issues here so I will deal with them separately:

Earlier versions of software will not open projects created on a later version - this is almost universal with all software. I suspect that you may have installed a patch on your original 12 that has updated it slightly and you are opening one of the files created on the original version. If you install the latest V12 patch it may work.

The error message 1628 has come up before and from memory it has something to do with the fact that the Windows Installer program is not compatible with a 64-BIT PC. TFP itself will run at 32-BIT on a 64-BIT machine but the installer has the issue. A solution was given at the end of this post: http://forums.turbofloorplan.com/index.php/topic,1035.0.html so you may want to try that.  Incidentally there is also and update to V14 (from 637 to 662)

Any version of TFP requires an external catalogue as this is where all the various elements are stored.  When the program is installed the Catalogue is installed also, so it appears that the connection to it has been broken somehow. This can happen if you rename folders or move things around, so you will have to locate the catalogue and re-attach it. Try a Search on your computer for this - the name should include "TurboFLOORPLAN_Master Catalog" or if that does not find it use just "TurboFLOORPLAN" and look for a "bdb" file.

If it has lost the connection to the Catalogue then it has probably also lost the connection to other attached folders.  See Settings / Programme Settings / General.  This lists all the folders that are attached. If any do not have a folder shown you will have to use the Modify to reconnect them.  Most will be in the same main folder as the Catalogue.

You can attach different Catalogues at any time during a project at File / Catalogues, but they must be current or older versions.

Even if you manage to get V14 to work you will not be able to open those V15 files in V14.

Sorry I thought you were talking about your new machine with V14.  I would still read the other posts on 1628 as it seems to relate to the age of the installer rather than TFP itself.  You may also find other applicable suggestions by a web search. Whatever works for other software installations that bring up this error will likely work for TFP too.

The V12 Patch is still there at the bottom of this page: http://www.imsidesign.com/Support/TurboFLOORPLANSupport/tabid/515/Default.aspx. Note the comment about the V12 patch at the bottom section of the forum.
