Retaining wall cutout

What is the best way to put a 3 sided retaining wall into a slope?
A 4 sided one cuts out the terrain but a 3 sided one will not, but that is what I want.

What I want is a 3 sided retaining wall so I can put a seating area inside on a sloped terrain.

I tried searching but I could find no mention of this.

Hi Jeff,

If what you are trying to do is as in the image below, then all you need to do is slope your terrain, then insert a Pad the size you want and make sure it does NOT follow the terrain. (untick the box in Pad Properties).

The Pad will cut out the terrain and makes vertical sides on the cutout. You can then add the retaining walls and slope the two side ones the right way setting the wall height to the depth of the terrain at the high end.

Hopefully there is enough detail there so you can work it out. If you need more just ask.

In case I need it, is there a way to raise or lower the pad?

Hi Jeff,

You cannot elevate it but you can make it thicker, which will extend it upwards.
You can also lower it by entering a negative figure in the thickness. It will then actually have no thickness but will be below the terrain.

That's what I came up with as well.

I think what was messing me up was I was giving a negative value to the slop (house was already there),
and not raising the ground floor location to the height of the highest part of the slope.

The slab was then way to high and I could not bring it down.

Rather than raise the Ground Floor Location you could also have lowered the terrain  (Settings / Programme Settings / Terrain - Terrain Mesh - Set Base level). Not sure whether you were aware of that.

You can also use invisible wall by use the room division as 4th wall then you can ad a normal floor this will cut out the terrain, the negtive is then you rendering you get 2 dark wall depend there th sun is.

Yes I did try that but came up with some results I was not happy with.
