Realview Error

I drew a cookie jar in DesignCad 3D (Ver. 21) to add a little bit
of home to a kitchen design I am working on.  I imported it into TFP without any problem, but when I try to process a 3D Realview rendering, I seem to get through the polygon count and then get an error message and the rendering process stops. The error message states:

Renderer: Illegal Billboard
File C: users\owner\AppData\local\temp\Helios\Helios.wld
Line: Obj_5721_0_0.ent
Line number: 2976

As I have imported other creations from DC3 in the past, I am puzzled why this rendering would not complete itself. Anyone have any ideas?

A few suggestions:

Have you tried just importing the cookie jar into a new project to see if it renders OK? This will prove whether it is your cookie jar that is the problem.

The word Billboard in the error message is only associated, as far as I know, with Photoboards. Are you using any photobards in the model? If so, try changing the Billboard setting to Fixed.

What format is your cookie jar?  3DS or DXF? Try saving it in the other format.

Does it render using Basic render?

I verified that the problem must be caused by the DesignCad 3D cookie jar, as the rendering is okay after it is removed from the drawing. I imported the cookie jar using the Object Wizard, and converted it and exported it from DC3 as a .dxf file. The cookie jar looks good on the counter (semi-transparent with chocolate chip cookies inside), in the picture, but seems to screw up the rendering.

I'm going to try and reproduce the cookie jar in 3D using less facets and hopefully a smaller sized object.

If you can, try to save the object as 3DS and import it again

If you prefer, post the object so it can be tested in other computers / configurations

3DS is not one of the file extension names I can use in DesignCad. There's DWG, DXF, IGES, RiB, VRML,....

Huh,....I can put in a very simple empty 3D cookie jar and the rendering works okay....but when I put some 3-D cookies (about 8 of them) in the transparent jar, the program blows up when rendering. I wasted about enough time on this ole' cookie jar, so I gues the country kitchen goes without.... (can't have an empty cookie jar)...LOL!

You could add some cookies in TFP using simple disks. Might not taste as good though

Could be the 3D cookies have a vertex construct problem, or an issue when exported, or "normals" in error, etc.  Lots of things can go wrong.

If you have any other 3D programs that can import the object to look at it to check and export in same or other format...might work to fix the problem.  Sometimes formats change slightly with newer versions and mismatches/failures occur.

You may be able to find SketchUp objects you want and then import .skp file to TFP...another recent thread here discusses version matching cautions.  SU is free via Google.

In the web, you will find several free converters and  / or demo versions. You can try a Turbocad free trial version

The DXF files are very difficult to manipulate / import because they are developed using a very basic set of entities. If you are interested in the subject, I recommend that you open a DXF file using Notepad (yes, a text processor) so , you'll see the entities
