how to make a wall opening flush with the wall itself

How can I make a wall opening which is flush with the one or both sides of a wall?    I can insert a rectangular door opening in the middle of wall just fine, but if I try to make the opening align with the edge of the wall, it won't insert.

I need to model a house which has a wall divider between the living and dining room, and an opening between them which has no door or frame.  It just has a soffet across the ceiling.  (See yellow arrows in attached photo).

You do not say specifically what the problem is as you should be able to insert it and just drag it into the corner.  I assume you are doing that but are getting a 'frame' on the flat wall and this is what you are trying to get rid of.

You can get it very close to the other wall if you zoom in real close before you drag it into the corner but you will sometimes still see a ridge on the wall (and a break in the baseboard!). There are probably a number of ways to avoid both of those but the one that comes straight to mind is by putting the upper piece of wall on another location (Settings/Building Locations) that has a floor height set to the opening height and the other settings (head, ceiling, wall) set to the height of the top piece of the wall.  On the ground floor stop the wall where the opening is and do the above to fill in the top being careful to align it closely. You will have to delete the baseboards of course.

You could also just do it with a beam set to the right size and elevate it.

I don't know if Allan and i approach this problem same way, I think we both have used beams but Allan use 3ds- beam I think.
To this to example have use layout function in TFP and draw a line from the wall there the opening shall be, and then have I convert the line to 102 mm x 305 mm Log Wall that I have change apperas whit the brush, and in image 2  have I first make a copy of 4" wood wall and change the hight to 15"3/4 and then convert the line to this wall.

To make it easy make the opening beam first then the standard wall other vice you get this result image 4, this is also the reason tho the red and green arrow and text in image 2.

No the image was just a short wall on its own location. This was easier as it automatically has the wall properties so no matching problems and quick to do.  The same location can then be used for similar openings in the same or future projects (if saved to the template).
