Reset Preset Elevation Angles

Hello All,

It seems that I have unknowingly modified the setting of the front, rear, left and right elevation views....By default they are all set up so that when you toggle between the four elevation views, the building appears at the same "scale".

In my current project however, when I toggle between the elevation views, they are at different scales. If I look into the camera properties, I can see why. I must have played with the angles at some point, and now they are different from the default. My camera properties for the front elevation are now like this. [See attachement (camera1) of the camera properties.] The camera (yellow)  and the target (red and white cross hair symbol) are side by side. In the default setting (if you open a new project, or in this example, a project which still has the default camera and target position) the camera and target are set like in the screenshot [attachement Camera2]

If could just set the camera and target back to the way were, it would be fine, however, I can't seem to....I can hover over the camera, and target, and move them both at the same time, but I cannot  separate the target from the camera at all.

I have tried to describe the problem as best I can, but am not sure if I am conveying it efficiently....feel free to ask me for clarification before you answer!

If anyone knows how to reset the defaults back for the elevations I would really appreciate it.

Can't say I've ever seen this so I played with it.

Click on the "target" and it does jump close back to camera but does not change the view at all....you can move the target to change the view angle...but that is not your problem. I cannot "return" the target far from camera....but it does not matter anyway.

"Scale" could simply be you have zoomed in or out with a mouse wheel roll or some other zoom action.

Try playing with zoom...should fix it.  Target distance from camera is of no concern, angle important, moving camera and target results in "panning" the view.

Playing around should be a learning experience.

If still not correct, possibly try without hardware acceleration but I suspect that is not creating any problem on this view.

Still problems? Tell us more. What you tried. What is still wrong?

Thanks Doug!

I will keep you posted on my progress with that.

BTW, what is hardware acceleration?

Hi Marishka,

Hardware Acceleration is a setting in Settings / Program Settings / Graphics. It can be turned off if there are graphics display problems with your computer/program and it may fix them - BUT as the name implies, it accelerate program movements etc. If you have it off, you may find movements are jerky and slow, so turning it off is just a temporary measure while PC problems are identified and hopefully fixed.

Your problem should not involve that but simply, as Doug said, just scrolling the mouse wheel to zoom out on the elevation or simply click the 'Zoom To Extents' button (crossed arrows) on the navigation toolbar - that will zoom the elevation larger or smaller, so that it  fills the screen. The relative position of camera and target make no difference on 2D elevations - only in 3D will anything change if you adjust the camera this way.

Thanks Allan! I tried the zoom to extent, which worked like a dream. There are many really nice features about this software.
