Desktop PC will not do Advanced Render

I did raise this before but within another thread and there was not response, so thought I would try again.
I have TFP installed on a Win 2000 laptop where it works fine although Hardware Acceleration has to be off for Advanced Rendering.

My desktop however will not do Advanced rendering at all.  It does the polygon count only and then just displays the unrendered image (including the highlighiting of any selected objects) all in 3 seconds. It does not go to Step 2.   

Hardware Acceleration makes no difference on or off and I have turned it off completely on the PC also, to no avail.  The PC was recently professionally rebuilt following a RAM issue and, other than Microsoft Office, TFP is the only software that has been added. It was installed with no other software running and virus scanners etc were disabled. It has the latest video drivers (Nvidia).  It is running Windows XP Professional, 3MHz Pentium 4 processor, 1GB RAM, 160GB hard disk.

Any ideas anyone?

Allan, just a shot in the dark. Did you check your settings in the Nvidia Control Panel under 3D settings/global settings. I'm not sure which option will affect what but it may start you thinking. Can you do any rendering in any other programs?

Um, have you run the OpenGL analysis software (search for site-link on forum) to find what flavour those Nvidia drivers actually support ??

Mine turned out to be 'hacked' to improve gaming experience, had numerous missing entry points...

Worse, latest Nvidia drivers do not recognise my 1440x900 wide-screens...

I have attached an image of the driver settings - this is as it came, I have not changed anything (I don't understand anything either !!!).  Do they look right to you (or anyone)?  I have since installed FloorPlan V11 and it renders normally on raytace and radiosity.

The driver settings as I said above are as downloaded, so may be preset for games for all I know, but V11 seems to be normal.

Do the settings mean anything to you?

Allan there are some differences but I don't think they will make any difference.

Um, have you run the OpenGL analysis software

OpenGL analysis s/w is free and tests and reports results which could help find a problem area or at least help you if you talk with a tech person and it will report at what level of OpenGL compatibility you have.

Also others have set their PC operation to reduce h/w acceleration speed for some programs; I don't know if that will help. 

I think its up to CadSoft or TFP supplier to help solve the problems or at least provide more clear min. rqmts.
