First job

I only downloaded my first copy of TFP Pro 16 two weeks ago and it's been a VERY steep learning curve, but thanks to the kind help of many people on this forum I've got my skills up just enough to use the software for my first client presentation this week.  Just putting the finishing touches on his beach house design now...wish me luck!

Hi Allan,

The background image is of course one supplied in TFP, but the  acual location (Lady Bay) in South Australia, is white sandy dunes, covered in small native shrubs.  I used TFP to reflect the actual contours and boundaries of the property, and to design the landscaping (Aussie coastal natives).  The eliptical beach house, which had a maximum area of 70m2, was drawn in TCv19 and imported and the man was drawn in Poser and imported.

It is not in my version so I thought it must be a photo of yours from the customers' site. Maybe you have the Australian edition and it has some different images.

Now I have a challenge for you!!!  (when you get your presentation finished) 
How about tying to replicate your TCad model in TFP?  It will be a good exercise for you since you are already familiar with the plan. It looks relatively simple to do, although the roof could be interesting.    From your model it is a bit difficult to see exactly what shape it is. I can quite imagine that you will eventually end up doing the process the other way around -  model, present and 'sign off' in TFP and then do the final plans in TCad.  It is probably better to start the learning process with something simpler but anyway, a challenge for you - if you feel like trying it and when you get the time.

Yes I have the Australian versionof TFP, and Ihad thought of doing the house within the software but had NO idea where to start doing eliptical walls and surved roofs!  Iwould like to be able to do all the designing in TFP rather than back and forward between programs so I think your challenge of redrawing it in TFP would be a good challenge and rewarding if I could manage it.  You do realise that I'd be needing a LOT more help from you though!

Hi Garry,

No problem.

I'll get you started just with the walls (for when you are ready to start): Select the wall, right click, select Curve click and drag the centre blue marker. Done!   and...  If you already had a Floor, Roof and Ceiling (inserted by Perimeter) then they would be done too - all with the one drag of the wall and complete with interal framing! What could be easier?

Just a suggestion for when you start and get stuck: Raise unrelated questions separately in the 'Looking for Help' section so they are easier for others to find too.
