      Hope everyone is doing okay..............

I call this one  'Colonial Bedroom'

What floor material are you using?  It looks like a wood that has been overscaled.

      Miked1158 :

I used the marble texture.   I  DID overscale the marble a bit, so it wouldn't look tiled.  But,  I want to try using a wood texture that would go with the "age" of the room.

                                                                                                                                                 garystan

         Mike1158 :

I  did a "redo"  on that Colonial Bedroom.    I put wood flooring down instead of the marble.

                                                                                                                                                  garystan

I see what you mean, textures can be a pain unless you go for the high pixel count of stuff found at arroway (www.arroway-textures.com).

Some wood floors I like are these, medium poly count and quite reasonable.  Nicer render 2nd time around but you are consistently good so I thought you would not mind me mentioning the mat.

        Mike1158 :

I checked out that website.   There's not much to see, unless you order the CD catalog.
Those samples you showed are nice.

                                                                                                                                                  garystan

Nice Garystan
I think what has really made this new rendering great is the change of both camera angle and sun angle. Great job at experimenting !!!

Question :    Thanks for the  "thumbs up" .  Is there a way to make wooden flooring look more   "random" ?    In reality, the installer would stagger the joints.

Nice job !............I thought I had expensive tastes.    I DO like that "mounting" you have for the lights above the bed.    Do you have any other posts in the Gallery ?      Maybe we can "compare notes".   I have a few posted in the Gallery.    Just look for my name.      Keep up the good work .
I found out that I can use Google Sketchup to make custom furniture and objects.  Which, in turn, can be imported into a  TFP project.

There are really only two ways I know of:
- use a large size image to apply a texture that does not duplicate over the size of the floor applied to; or the duplicate areas are hidden by furniture or camera angle; often such is hard to find because "tiled" images are often used to reduce the image file size and such images are more difficult to make but you can photograph a real floor covering an area similar to the size of your TFP room.
- generate a "procedural" texture/material/shader (i.e. all done in math) in a 3D program and render a large size image and use that....but making your own is not always easy tho you do have a lot of control.

PS I think your work is quite good and I hope you are posting to also get constructive feedback....so I offer this:
- side tables next to bed seem rather highly reflective; maybe you meant if that way; then OK but real wood would not be quite that reflective.
- the bed spread cloth covering in the latest view now shows it does not just lay over the bottom bed boards but the wood and cloth "interfere" and look un-natural....better to change the view or fix the model. Draping cloth over an object is not easy but some programs do that now....mostly depends on how realistic and how much time/trouble you want to spend.  Or you could adjust the model/camera so you don't see that interference.

Hi Funrob29,

Nice to see some work from FP V10 - that was the best version I think!! (before the change to TFP at V12). TFP is much more advanced but there are still some things I preferred in FP3D though, especially interior/exterior together rendering with Lightworks. Hopefully TFP will catch up on that aspect sometime.

Welcome to the fourm by the way!  :)

Hi Garystan,

Your latest rendering looks great - nice use of lighting through the windows especially.

Google Sketchup is an excellent and very useful program but don't forget that almost everything it can do, can also be done within TFP. I just made your bed as an example. I have no idea how long it would take in SKP, I assume it would be quicker, but this one took about 20 min in TFP.

Garystan, I agree with jack about the camera angle.  As for the website the actual textures on CD are too high a poly count but if you select full contents on the catalogue page you can see each individual texture and going to the bottom of the page find a free sample which is more manageable.  As long as you do not download every sample on the site in one hit you should be OK.  Plenty of seamless textures out there.  As a representative of why I suggest most textures are oversampled (Too colour saturated) There are two here of the same wood fence.

         Allan  :

Nice redo............it didn't occur to me to have the windows "almost"  reach the floor.      Does make the room  more open.  As an after-thought.......if I made the bed frame and the mattress separately,   I probably had the foot of the mattress softer and rounded.
