Hi Robert,

If you go back to the post where I attached the Tree.BIM file you will notice that I mentioned that "It may say they were created in a later version but should still import - hopefully".  Twechnically I am using a later version as I was using Envisioneer 7.2 at the time, which would in efffect be TFP V16.2. Since the two updates to Envisioneer only involved 2D components that are not included in TFP, explains why we have not received any updates and now a V17 is probably just around the corner.

I have just opened TFP V16 and imported the same BIM file without any problem. It did prompt saying it was produced in a later version, and when I clicked Cancel (the only option) the BIM file opened.

As in the image I first clicked Documents (on the BIM side) and the Transfer. When I went to Insert / Photoboards the two trees and two shrubs were there in the Objects folder (at the bottom - as in the image).  Yours should have saved in exactly the same place.

a way to "send" large files is to use a free web service like drop box or one of many others.

You upload the file to the site and it sends an email to where you want the file to go and the person there gets a link so he can then download the file

Usually the file stays available only for a few days

Search Google for drop box or similar

Thank you Doug

To be honest, I have used such web site before but I don't like to send my original files out on the net.
I have experience theft of my work by individuals from other countries. Some of my 3D videos in youtube I found where being sold in Europe.

Allan,

I decided to import to import into my photoboard  perspective Palms and trees I have from XFROG and they worked great

The software XFROG Plants I have provide me with excellent plants in three formats, Billboard, Perspective and 3D Models. Using PhotoShop I coverted the perspective TIFF file to Targa file and was able to import as photoboard into the project and by going to catalog/Save Element to Catalog I accomplish the quality of trees & Palms I desired. 8)

Below are the lastes results using High quality resolution, Level-5 render ;D

P.S. Also I've been saving the projects to my exterior memory drive, to elevate PC hard drive memory and found out I needed to make sure the original Palms and trees I used to import where also saved in my exterior memory drive along with the projects or else   I would lose the target perspective plants when re opening the project.

The original files where in a usb flash drive and when I removed the drive and try opening the project, the photoboard imports where Gray  with no images  ::)

Hi Robert,

The trees look much better!

Photoboards and textures are only referenced from your computer - they are not saved with the model. To be sure they work in different situations it is best to save them in the TFP Textures folder - that way it, and you, always know where they are. If you get a new computer, all you have to do is copy the Textures folder over and ALL projects will work.

Are the images done with Basic or Advanced render?

Thanks again ;)

Images where made with Basic, Level-5
Since last try using advance I had problems I decided to stick with Basic. I plan to reduce size of this project to only the building with the store space interior I'm designing I will then go advance render. ;)

Hi Robert,

The quality levels only work with Advanced so it will not make any difference where you set that.

I am still a but concerned that you may have a corruption lurking there somewhere. Have you tried zipping the file to see if it will then fit into an email so you can send it to me?

Allan,

I believe the problem is my PC, not Corrupt files. ::)

Why would Basic work if I had a corrupt File. ???

Many sites now do allow for "privacy" protection requiring a separate password to retrieve/download a file.

But of course NOTHING is fully protected on the web....so you can reduce, but probably never eliminate all risk of theft.

So I do understand your concern and I forgot to mention that before....but doing so now for other users who may read this in future.

Why would Basic work if I had a corrupt File. ???
It could be the PC but I have many times seen a corruption cause Advanced to fail but not Basic.  Advanced renders the WHOLE model in 3D, with light and shade, and you can then walk around it in this mode, with the lights and shadows on and get a much better picture of the model. A bonus is that you can then 'take photos' from different angles, without having to render the model again. This means of course, that the process is looking at evey aspect of the model, internal and external and even below the terrain. If it comes across something it cannot resolve, it will crash.

Basic is like a camera snapshot - it does not really care what is out of sight of the camera, just purely what it sees. If the problem is inside, or under the terrain, it does not care, as it can't see it so the render is OK.  That said I have also seen Basic fail where Advanced has suceeded.  They are different processes, so obviously different things can affect them - which is why the Quality Level settings do not work for Basic.

Makes sense  ;)

I'm currently working on the interior part of the project.

I'm deleting parts of the building and exterior objets that I will not need for the final render , this will reduce the file size then check everything to make sure is correct before doing my test Advance rendering. I will keep my fingers cross, if I'm still having this trouble after checking, it would have to be the PC ??   ::)
