Hi guys,

While drawing up this large car dealership I was unable to increase the size of the terrain...note the "a" and "b" settings in the screenshot, but where can I alter them?

I think I see you are using ProArchitect?  If so, I have no idea; maybe Allan knows.

See my attached TFPv16 settings; can change there.

Thanks Doug,

I was using TFP and "upgraded" to ProArchitect...I recall using the screen you displayed to alter the terrain size, and found it odd that I couldn't alter it now...it may be that PA doesn't support this feature!  I'll see if Allan knows.

Thanks

Hi Garry,

It would appear that you have at some point in this particular model started to use the Terrain "Spot Point" tool. At the time you would have had a prompt that said if you use this option you would no longer be able to use the old Slope etc tools.  Having tested it out it appears that you can no longer change the Terrain size after that point either.

I had not realised this myself previously. I am about to apply the latest update so will see if anything has changed and let you know. I will also raise the question on the Envisioneer forum as I would like to know for my own purposes too.

Hi Allan,

Thanks for looking into it, it's frustrating not being able to adjust the terrain...keep us posted.

Hi Garry,

Answer is very simple - just add Spot Points outside the original terrain size and it just grows accordingly!

Thanks Allan, I'll give it a try...while I have your attention, I have the age-old rendering problem where I CAN render in Advanced but NOT in Basic, but it's an outdoor/exernal view!

I get the error shown below..I know you must get sick of explaining this same thing over and over...but one more time for someone a little slow please...

..and yes...the dealership IS named after you! (for copyright reasons I can't put up the actual name)

Good morning Allan, I've searched in all the menus and in the help files and can't find the "Spot Points" tool, where can I find it?

Hi Garry,

It is the last button on the Tereain toolbar. Looks like a target symbol.
The fact that you had lost the Terrain size boxes I assumed you must have used it already. The size adjustment boxes only disappear after you use the tool.

I don't recall ever having seen it let alone use it, but I can't readjust the terrain at the moment, so maybe I did!

Hi Garry,

The image below shows the Terrain toolbar with the Spot Point tool icon (target like) and also the menu option too. You will notice too from the background image that the Terrain can be an odd shape using the Spot Points tool.

This is from Envisioneer so I assumed the ProArchitect would be the same, since your dialog box earlier (with TIN setting) is the same as the Envisioneer one. Normally the 3D part of all these programs are identical to Envisioneer, (TFP included - V17 when it is released presumably will pick up this option also). I noticed that the Import Site Data option is missing from your toolbar as well.

Since you have the same Properties dialog box, the tools must presumably be somewhere (unless they forgot them!  ::) ).
Does it appear in the Insert menu list?

Hi Allan,

I NEVER recall having seen those two icons before, and as you can see from my screenshot, they are missing now!

Hi Garry,

Looks suspiciously like a program update is required! ::)
I will see what I can find out.
