PA vs. TFP H&Lpro ?

Just received an email touting Personal Architect (PA) and it seems very similar to TFP16.

What gives? are they related or diffierent? Use together or no advantage to PA over TFP?  (especially as TFP17 should be released soon?).

Anyone know? Anyone used both? Virtually same? (TFP vs. PA).


or just different products or sellers?

Hi Doug,

Personal Architect is virtually itentical to TFP but with a few limitations, You will notice on the feature list it only has 200 plants while TFP Pro has 7,500. It certainly has no advantages over TFP. (http://www.personalarch.com/features.php)  Both originate from Catsoft being based on Envisioneer but sold into different markets.

ProArchitect is a different, having the same 3D core but with extensive 2D functionality for easily creating and printing working drawings, but comes at a somewhat higher price (9 times the price!) http://www.cadsoft.com/productlist.php.
It has many advantages over TFP but you probably need the business use to justify the price.

Sounds like Pro Architect is very similar to Envisioneer.

Also sounds like a lot of creative marketing for all the products.  But sales must be made to keep products alive.

I am pleased with TFP Pro and look forward to TFP17....soon I hope.

Basically yes - a cut down version. Identical really to TFP16 but with some worksheet functionality for plan layout.
As far as TFP V17 is concerned: they say "no news is good news" but I am wondering if the reverse might be true in this case.

Hi Allan!
I have just buy Cadsoft ProArchietect for $395 so I deleted TFP17 H&L I come to that conclusion that TFP17 is a down grade From TFP16. So i will now only use TFP16 and ProArchietect.

Good to hear from you again! 

At least V16 and ProArchitect are compare and work the same so no learning curve etc. It is a shame that V17 could not be a continuation but I am sure it will appeal to many as it less technical so may be easier for some.

Hi Allan!
I have fund out that with ProArchitect 1 can you at least use the all catalogs from TFP V14 and up and at least up to Envisioneer  V8 i have not yet look if it compatible with V9 but I think so,
terrain tool as in TFP16. 
So now will I sign up to Cadsoft Forum to.

On big thing whit the new TFP17 and PUSH program is there is limit of 3 floorplans

Hi Robert,

Yes you should be able to use any of your TFP catalogues, templates or BLD files in ProAechitect as it is a later version. TFPV16 equates with Envisioneer V7 (but not 7.1 or 7.2)

Envisioneer V9 is later, so it will open all the earlier files but neither TFP or ProArchitect will be able to open a EnvV9 file. A V9 equivelent of ProArchitect is due to be released soon.
