Hi everybody :

I've run across a situation.   Whenever I click on my TFP (Version 16)  shortcut,  I get the error message saying that there is already a copy of TFP running.   Which I know there isn't.   Right now,  I completely uninstalled it.  Checked in the Registry (Windows 7) for any  "leftovers".   Found one entry.   Deleted it.   Did a SEARCH as well...found nothing.   And the listing in Control  Panel doesn't list TFP (being it was deleted).    I think I  "covered all the bases ", so I'm going to try to re-install it again.   In the meantime,  is there anything...other that switching versions or getting Personal Architect....that you guys can think of ?

     REPLY :

I did the UNINSTALL.   Re-installed TFP V16.  Rebooted.  Now, my copy of TFP V16 seems to be functioning correctly.   I find this situation insane.  If I knew what was going on  in the background, it probably wouldn't seem insane.

Hi Garystan,

I suspect that you may have started it twice. It is easy to do. A double click or one click and it seems slow so you click again and you end up with two running or trying to. Sometimes it is slow to appear on the screen but the Task Manager shows that the first instance is actually running and hence the message.

If for some reason the first instance was hanging part way through and not actually coming up on the screen then rebooting the PC should fix it.

     Allan :

When this first happened, that's the first thing I thought......the double-click.  So I restarted TFP with a single click.  No good.  After re-installing it, and doing a  "cold start" (turning off the computer power...total shutdown), I noticed it started running correctly.   The thing I don't understand, when I uninstalled it, I did a check for any  "parts" left.  I checked in my Registry and did a SEARCH. All gone.  But, it TFP was totally deleted, how could some of my older Projects show up.  I made sure these weren't on my DVD-RW disks.  These were showing up in the Projects Folder.  I imagine they should've been deleted with the software.  Being I opted for TOTAL uninstall...including any "data"   This is where the further learning comes into play.

 Hi Garystan,

The files into the Projects folder are not part of the software so should not be deleted just as if you were to delete Microsoft Word or Excel from your computer it would not delete all your letters and spreadsheets. If you told it to delete the data, then it would delete your Catalogue and textures but not any files you had created.

This last week my copy of TFP has also started having problems shutting down. When I get the message about another version running I open the Task Manager TFP application is closed but the program is still running processes, which I force to end.
Don't know why but I am thinking a re-install is called for . . .
