       Hello TFP :

is it possible to cut a circular opening in a ceiling ?    I started with a square opening, then curved the sides.   The result was a  "sort of"  circle.   Couldn't get a perfect circle.  I used   "Cut Openings", then drew the outline.   This is just a learning experiment.

I think I might've answered my own question.   I managed to cut a circle, somewhat "round" in the ceiling.   Inserted a  dome .  Then adjusted the opening.   I just have to make a few adjustments for a final project.  Such as  raising the wall height ?   Sorry about the "nutness".

Hi Garystan,

You can easily get a perfect circle by using the Circle tool on the Layout toolbar. Draw the circle (it is just a 2D line - nothing shows in 3D) and then use the Cut Opening tool to cut a rectangular or triangular opening by clicking on 4 or 3 points along the circle. If you have OBJSNAP (Status bar) turned on, then the corners will snap to the circle. Now select the ceiling again and curve the edges of your rectangle or triangular opening - as you drag the edge to make the curve, it will snap to the 2D circle, leaving you with a perfectly round opening. You can delete the circle afterwards if you want. (Make the ceiling non-selectable so you can get hold of it to delete it).
