I'm downloading this now, it kind of does what turbofloorplan does, although I
couldn't get a copy until now (asked for the beta 2 months ago) 274MB. I guess
it's released for free, basically a Blender plugin.

I have it up and running, load the sample.blend. The idea is to be able to resize your
furniture, etc. Haven't found the furniture yet though.

This looks like the most useful vid, note you can't run Blender 2.70 anymore, you'll
get fluid designer, but blender 2.69 loads O.K.

Hi Terry,

Thanks for posting those links. The furniture tool looks very impressive. Let us know when you find it and if it is as easy as the video seems to indicate. Can you save the furniture objects as 3DS, DXF or SKP to be able to use them in TFP?

Going by the second video, creating the rooms, looks VERY slow and messy compared with TFP, although the render looks good. If the furniture can be used in TFP it would be ideal.

I take it you need to have Blender to be able to use the furniture creator?

It exports 3ds, obj, fbx and ply not sure about copyright, etc.

blender program is in fluid designer  and runs without it. But it hijacks the interface of Blender 2.7, if you run 2.7 you'll get only the fluid designer parts, so I
run 2.69 and get the 'real' blender.

I couldn't 'click on a wall, hit enter and have the furniture snap into place'. I had
to insert it at 0,0,0 and transform it,  no biggie. I need to check back and see if
they've implemented user made furniture yet.

I just tried to find the videos and can't login, but you should be able to sign up
and download it here:

Just as an FYI, if you click entry door single.blend in this directory, you'll get
fluid designer, so if you want your own items you'll have to exit FD run blender 2.69
maybe make a door the same size, copy it into this directory, make a 540x540 png for
the preview pic.

fluid designer

microvellum's Andrew Peel and others used blender as a base

this makes rooms and cabinets.

If you want to run blender 2.70a, or 2.7, you need to go
here (create config directory if not included and put
a 'default.blend' (or any blender .blend file) in it, you can make this default blend file in 2.69 or earlier.

C:\grafprog\modeling\blender-2.70a-windows64\2.70\config
this is my blender location. Otherwise clicking on blender 2.70
loads fluid designer.

You should be familiar with blender, just a few tips- put on
NUMLOCK key and you can navigate with the numpad keys, middle
mouse button zooms in. CTRL-numpad 4 and 6 pans the view
His blender mmb stuff doesn't work, might be my mouse. He's got a 'user
interface'video

You CAN go file/user settings and try Maya input, can't pan though

shift-a 'search' for stuff.

Adding a wall
video
01-the room layout
http://www.microvellum.com/training/fd_DesigningAKitchen/01-TheRoomLayout.mp4

shift-a you can add another wall, r-click on any wall'green outline' the dimensions 186 can be ctrl c copied and then click another wall ctrl -v 'paste' to the other wall

Click on the orange cube 'product' to get to professional

vid-1-go to viewport and 'grid lines' TYPE in 92, weird things happened when
I dragged the number, like the whole model disappeared.

0401 grid lines

:52 couldn't add the triple window where he did I could add it to the other side though

vid_2_prod_22_add_window_otherside

vid_2_106-COrner_cabinet, couldn't add it by l-click so I hit ENTER to stick it at
cursor location then moved it

ended up x 284 y 0 z 0 rotation z=270
couldn't add fridge either, cursor location seems to be at 0,0,0 always

If you accidentally hose the dimensions, you can't ctrl z, so don't do it.

tHE BUMP product group right and left didn't work it bumped the fridge along x axis
back to origin,

don't move-rotate using the cursor arrows

VID2-   159 this is what I did to make the cabinet stretch, fill gap, didn't even see
this command

There's a new version, 2.71, their official download barfs after 53MB, still waiting for
a real link. There's some new videos here, parametric bit looks useful

Got a real link from [email protected],
watched the videos, basically you can make cabinets, etc, which you can resize and
rescale. Doesn't come with a lot of stuff. My idea was to make furniture for games
which I could vary slightly, but I haven't had time to do all the tutorials.
