Hi,

When i make a opening in a kitchen how do I make it so thru the opening you don't see the outside? Can you make it so you see another room?
Thanks Kelly

Hi Kelly,

I don't quite understand the question.  Obviously if you put the opening on an outside wall then you will see outside through the opening. If you put the opening on a wall that adjoins another room, then you will see the other room through the opening. If you do not have another room on the other side, then you will need to create one using the wall and ceiling tools.  Or have I missed what your problem is?

I have the same problem as Kelly... There IS a Dining Room on the other side of this all but..poof... I'm outside!
Idon't see a wall help for doing a "cut out " in a wall...ie a pass through (ie food)type opening to the dining room.
The way I tried was in 3D/ makig a square like highlight and usin the keyboard delete button. Is this the way to do it?..Thanks

It is not a Wall function - you are not 'cutting a hole in the wall' as such but adding a window without frames. If you look in the Windows elements you will find Openings. Just select the size you want (or resize one) and insert it like a window. It is just a window with all the framing turned off. You can turn the casing and trim off also if you want.

I find working in the 3D view to insert items or move things is very risky in that its hard to control objects with the cursor in 3D....and much easier and predictable to insert or move items in the 2D plan view 'only' and use the 3D view as a "viewer" only.

To make it easier to jump back and forth from 2D to/from 3D I use the view manager and add view tabs....with names like 2D, and for each 3D camera setup (I also insert multiple 3D cameras for the most common 3D views needed....so I don't need to keep moving one camera....and if needed you can have multiple windows open to see 2D and 3D at same time)
