Flat area on sloping terrain

Hi all, I have a question regarding how to place a flat area on sloping terrain. Put simply; I have a sloping block, and need to insert a flat area mid-slope upon which to erect a shed. I have tried plateaus, which insert parallel to the slope, so no good; I have tried inserting berms and hills but they don't suit either. Is there a way to insert a terrain feature that defines a level area on a sloping block; such that there is zero height at the upslope end, and a height value at the downslope end, which thereby 'levels' the slope to produce an area for building?

The simplest way to get a flat area is to use the Pad tool. This will cut out a flat area  but the sides will be vetical (don't forget to check the box so the Pad does not follow the slope of the terrain).

If you do not want completely vertical sides, you would have to use the Plateau tool to create the whole of the Terrain. Build it up by drawing multiple shallow plateaus like map contour lines. Where your flat section is, draw the contour lines of the plateaus on the 3 cut-out sides, very close together. You may stiill want to use the Pad also to make the bottom of the cut-out area completely flat.

Thanks Allan, I was afraid of that. I noted that the pads had steep sides. I had tried a few shallow 'plateaus' (even combinations of hills, berms and plateaus to fill the 'gaps'); and it became evident that several plateaus would be required. I was hoping for an easier solution. I'll check out the plateau search as you suggested. Many thanks for your help as always. Rod.
