cooktop

Anyone know how to place a cooktop into a cabinet?

I have been trying to place one in various cabinets and have had no luck.
Seems like it should be a simple thing to do.

I saw one other post that asked this question along with a some others, but could find no answers.

Could you tell us more about the problems you're having?

I just started a new project and placed a 48" base cabinet then added a 30 cooktop to it without any problems.  I had to nudge the cooktop onto the cabinet - couldn't drag and drop it due, I think, to collision properties.  I didn't remove the cabinet countertop so that the cooktop would float in the existing countertop.

I wasn't sure how to "nudge", but I figured it out. "Just used the arrow keys"

That got me what I needed.

Hi Don!

Sorry about not explaining 'nudge'.  I wasn't sure if the collision protection was what was causing your difficulty.

You can control the distance that a nudge will move a selected object.  This is often very useful but - a word of caution - if you set the distance very small be sure you increase the size of the image in your display or the move will not be perceptible.

To set the distance click Settings in the menu bar and select Program Settings then select Drawing Aids.  At the bottom of the left column of options you will see a box for setting the nudge distance.

Some of the best advice I've been given on this forum is to explore all the settings and experiment with what they do in a test drawing.  There is a world of controls but it takes some time to acquire the learning curve to be able to use them fluently.
