DXF objects do not show In rendered View

I have some DXF objects Exported And saved in IMSI DesignCAD3D, that still work nicely in older versions of Turbo floorplan. But in floor plan Pro 2022 Version 22.0.0.1018 that I just purchased, I can import it and it shows in 2D, but does not show up in the 3D rendering. Any clues?

Hi there,

TurboFloorPlan V16 and FloorPlan V2022 are two different programs, with different features.

1 - As you can see in this chart, although FP V2022 imports DXF and DWG files, they are only for floor plans (2D files).
2 - FP V2022 imports 3DS and Sketchup files. You can convert your DXF objects to 3DS or SKP files using a free program.

FP, as any program, has a learning curve. The best way to learn the program, IMO, is practice + practice + practice => Read and follow the manual (this is important), see the videos => try to create elements not related with your project, so you will become familiar with the commands and how to manage the different components and effects.

Patricia, I chatted with an online IMSI product agent, and was told 2022 was the replacement for the version of v12 floorplan pro that I had been using for years on Windows 10, but was no longer supported for installation on a new Ryzen7 computer, also with Windows 10. I was hesitant to purchase it as my disabilities are presenting a lot of hand dexterity problems. I find this 2022 version has made impossible or very difficult to do the very same things I did with my turbo floorplan version 12:Home and landscape pro. Additionally, I'm not able to load projects made with the old program to this new program..

I provide a free service to many disabled persons to help them with concepts of remodeling their bathrooms make them more accessible for them.

After struggling for seven days and doing a lot of reading, and practicing, practicing, practicing, and watching tons of the training videos, I still haven't found a "pantry" cabinet, or have the ability to "easily" change the wood of the cabinets as I used to be able to do with my version 12 program. Positioning of the view "camera" is much more difficult. Importing accessibility items that I created on my designCAD 3D Max 22 or 2018 is much more complex. (I've been using DesignCAD 3D products from before IMSI purchased it, and still have the original five 3.5" floppy disks the program was delivered with in the drawer of my office desk).
Since my work involves a lot of accessible shower rooms, I miss the ability to put in a roll-in shower (can't find one) or reposition a shower valve to make it more accessible for my clients. There are far too many things that I used to be able to easily do with my older version of Turbofloorplan to mention here.

I am not sure what the IMSI agent said but FP2022 is not a replacement of TFP V12.
The last version of the old program (V16) is out of the market since 2015. The old programs don't work with new OSs and new configurations.
As the old and new programs only share part of the name, our Forum is divided in two sections.

As I stated, they are different programs and work in different ways, so the only option to master the new program is to learn the new program.

For example, to learn about how to add and texture the cabinets, open the user guide and go to page 250 => there is a section called "Adding Cabinets" (see image attached).
In addition, the guide is a PDF file so you can use the search feature to look for the different features.

v12 was from a very long time ago, due to Microsoft ending support for operating systems over time, programs developed for those OS's are considered antiquated and we remove installers from servers and retire key generators at that point to ensure our bandwidth and infrustructure can be utilized for modern programs

we do allow for upgrades from older versions to the current version, but reactivation of the older version from that far back isnt possible

Yesterday I discussed this thread with one of my IMSI's contacts and today, reading your last post, I noticed several issues.

1 - In your first post as well as in your signature, you mentioned TFP version 16, however in the chat, it is mentioned V12. Although there isn't a solution, older programs have less combability.
2 - You mentioned that you were told that "2022 was the replacement for the version of v12 floorplan pro" => as I stated (and the chat confirms), V2022 is not a replacement, it is an upgrade, because they are different programs.

Yes, My latest version is V16 and could not be reloaded on my new laptop so that I be able to use it when I am 100% bedbound.

Perhaps your industry's definition of an upgrade is different than many others, but when discussing the possibility of not being able to continue with one program, why would an agent indicate that a completely, and different program should be used as an "upgrade"? I guess it's all about the money, not customer satisfaction!

First (and very important) is not "my industry". I am an Architect and a Forum volunteer trying to help other FP users.

FYI, for all the sw companies, it is impossible make old sw compatible with new OSs, starting by Microsoft. Did you try to install MS Office in a Win Vista computer? or Photoshop? or Sketchup?
Another example: Adobe removed Flash Player, so old programs based on this feature can't be used with new computers.
But, in addition, please note that IMSI removed the TurboFloorPlan programs and currently they sell only FloorPlan programs.

In fact, the issue with old versions is very clear in the IMSI's FAQ page
"Why Aren't Older Versions Supported?
Because the system requirements for older software are out-of-date, the working environment cannot be duplicated by IMSI's technical support team. In most cases, issues are resolved by upgrading, and you are strongly encouraged to do so if you are an owner of a product that is several years old. To request an upgrade quote, please email [email protected]."
