FloorPlan Pro 2024 - cannot turn off basement ceiling

Hi,

I have no ceiling in the basement but FloorPlan shows a ceiling. On the properties tab of the Basement, show ceiling is unchecked, but is still showing. Toggling it does nothing. Toggling 'Show Floor' works fine.

What am I missing?

I just checked the floor above, Kitchen, and cannot turn off the ceiling there either. The floor works.

Verify if these elements are the ceilings of these rooms or the floors of the rooms above.

You were right. It is the floor of the floor above the basement that is the problem. For some reason, the automatic floor covering (20mm thick) is at the correct elevation, but the base of it, the plywood (or planks) is at the bottom of the joists instead of on top. In the Edit current floor diagram, I have B=260mm. I see the textured floor at the top of B and another plane at the bottom of B. In the attached image, you can see the floor of the kitchen. If turn the floor off, both parts, the upper and lower ends of the double arrow, turn off. I can't figure this out.

As well, the basement walls are supposed to be solid concrete. If I turn on framing, I have wooden walls in the 3D image. How do I get concrete walls for the basement?

This is an old house with plenty of quirks. The main floor joists are embedded (or notched) in the concrete walls, which are quite thick, about 500mm. To get the basement walls to go to the top of the joists, I presume that I should change the dimensions of the elevations, such that for the basement, the ceiling level would be the underside of the flooring, then place the joists at a lower level.

Then, I would make the main floor with a thickness B of just the thickness of the plywood/plus the automatic flooring. That would probably solve my problem.

You need to adjust the elevations + thickness to match.

Hi Patricia,

No. The problem is that the program is showing plywood at the bottom of the floor (joists), with flooring on top of the joists. The floor of almost any house is supposed to be made up of joists, with plywood on top of the joists, not at the bottom of the joists, then the flooring (20mm in my case) goes on top of the plywood. Look at the attached images and the previous image. Why is the plywood showing at the bottom of the joists, that is, ceiling level of the lower floor?

I added joists just below the top of floor level. In 3D view with framing on and looking from below, the joists have plywood covering them - at the bottom. The ceiling is turned off in the basement. If I turn the flooring above (kitchen) off, both the plywood and the 20mm flooring are turned off. There should be no plywood at covering the bottom of the joists - again, the plywood is supposed to be on top of the joists, kitchen floor level, not kitchen floor level minus the thickness of the floor B.

So, is there something wrong with what I am doing? Or is the program doing this wrong?

The second question was, how do I get concrete basement walls instead of wood framing when I am in framing view? Basement walls are supposed to be concrete (or concrete block), not wood frame.

Hi,

Please see also my previous post and the images.

It's getting worse. I went up 1 level to floor 2. Looking at the cross-section, ceiling of Floor 1 is higher than the underside of Floor 2. So if I add a paint or material to what I thought was the ceiling, it's actually the plywood of the underside of Floor 2 - which is not supposed to exist.

In other words, the ceiling of floor 1 is between the underside and top of floor 2. See the image.

I can't figure out how to fix this.

Hi there,

I can't visualize the entire project but the settings you posted are not matching the elevations / walls.

In addition, to visualize joists and other elements in the structure, use Framing Mode.

I'd suggest that you send your project to tech support so they will visualize the entire settings.
