exported images look different

Hi again,

I'm trying to use the export 2d image feature to save some time but I'm running into a couple problems.  I need images of my project scaled at 800 X 600.

The first problem I'm having is that the image that exports looks different than my current view.  It is slightly darker.  I know this has something to do with light.  I don't want to export a fully rendered view unless I can make it look exactly like my preview view.  Is there a way to either change the lighting so it will be identical, or export a non-rendered view (other than taking a screen shot and cropping).

The second problem is minor but still annoying.  Every time I export, the file location returns to default.  I changed the location in render settings, but it still picks the my documents folder.  This may be a minor bug.

I have not run any checks on my system to see if it does the same as yours.

But an easy solution is to post process in Photoshop or similar program to re-size and/or change the tone/brightness/contrast etc. of the image.

I have not used the export before as I always do a Real View render as I prefer the realism but I tried the export as 800x600 to check it out and I could see absolutely no difference. I could flip between the TFP screen view and the exported image and with the image placed at the same point on the screen for both programs, you could not see the image change.

I have attached a screen print showing the TFP image on the right with the same part of the exported image in the left and to all intents and purposes the colours are the same. I also checked the actual red, green, blue colour numbers at various points on the images and the maximum deviation was only 1 on each colour at every point I checked. For example, the wall cabinet front was 251, 245, 218 on the Exported image and 252, 246, 219 on the TFP display at the same point so this is very close.

Maybe you could do a similar thing with your output and display, so we can see the difference you are talking about. Your difference sounds much more than mine. It should not have anything to do with the lighting, as the export is just a screen image anyway.  Does a screen image come out darker also?  If it does it may be the gamma adjustment on the photo program you are using that is causing the difference.
