Model Origin

This is probably very obvious, but I just can't get it.  My model runs off the grid on the right side.  All I want to do is either move my entire model to the left, as it's smaller than the grid, or reset the model's origin.  Can anyone tell me how to do this?

I have not done it but seen it described in this forum....do a search for the info.  (see upper right of this screen)

But its something like select all, choose move and drag......or look in the help file for moving all

Alternatively since location on the grid has little meaning, you can go to program settings and simply make the terrain/grid larger as the default is 160x160

You can just Edit/Select All, right click and select Move.  If you have multiple storeys, you will have to do it for each location and align them again exactly.   To align, zoom in really close on a corner and use the Nudge tool set to 1 mm (or fraction of inch) to align exactly.

Alternatively, as Doug said, you can just enlarge the terrain (Settings/Program Setting/Terrain). If you have run off the edge the chances are it is too small anyway, especially if you plan to do some landscaping also.

Thanks.  I'm used to regular CAD where you either just select everything and move it or reset the origin.  Originally I had just increased the grid size but ran into problems printing.  It seems odd you have to do it floor by floor, but, oh well.  I assume you could use a snap to align as well.

Features/utilities etc. found often in regular CAD or even common vector programs are often not found in TFP.

On the other hand, being so special (not general purpose) for architecture, there are some nice capabilities in TFP

Like any software, TFP has its quirks and work-arounds that often are found and resolved in this forum by user exchange

The problem is that TFP is not really CAD but but more like "Computer Assisted Visualisation". It also does many things automatically, hence the Locations, all with their own settings, to create the third dimension. This saves a gigantic amount of time over a regular CAD program that essentially draw line by line.

It would be nice if there was a vertical align tool though.

Actually in v11 you could select the whole building and move and/or rotate it. (hightlight 'Locations' on Drawing Info tab) May be it can be done in v12 but is well hidden?

It looks like several features that were added following requests over the versions up to v11 have been lost in the new v12 code.

Perhaps ISMI should consider lost v11 features as feature requests for the next version?

Yes, I hope they do but I'm not even sure anyone at IMSI even looks at this forum any more.
