Hi...since i cant solve the raytracing problem ive got with TFP, im looking for other raytracing proggies working on .3DS exported TFP project...

Any ideas what program can fully raytrace an exported to .3DS TFP project other than 3DS Max 2009

Thank you

I think TurboCAD will do this and Carerra but I think there are some texture issues. Doug would be able to answer that better than me.

IMSI also advertise a renderer for Google Sketch-up, it may do it also.

Do you have the same problem with Radiosity rendering?

Well I found that TFP crashed only when i select in 3d real view the Raytrace under "Basic"....in Advanced all work fine!!!!!! but i dont want to render all the project all the time to get 1 raytraced image.... :)

Hi

TurboCad cannot import the textures for some reason and is not an easy tool to use.

Kerkythea is free but gets 0/10 from me.

Artlantis is brilliant and unbelievabley fast but expensive (I want it, I want it....).

The choices are limited, it would actually be cheaper to buy a new PC than to buy Artlantis...

I cant find anything to compare to Artlantis.  I was all set to buy V1 and they brought out V2 for double the price and wont sell V1 licences.  They also had an offer on V1 for two licencess for the price of one!

I might have to bite the bullet.... oh well its only money....

look here for a Carrara .3ds import fast/quick render

If the textures are known and/or they are available as a .bmp or .jpg file they can easily be applied in Carrara and rendered quickly with lots of lighting control.  Of course I've been using Carrara for many years so it seems easy for me but there is a learning curve but its all similar in any 3D program....just have toi find the right tool name.  Carrara user forum has always been very helpful.

TFP seems to render OK for me in both modes, tho radiosity is much more temperamental.

Can you post your .bld file .....maybe we can solve your raytracing problem and save you some extra work?  could be a model issue rather than Vista??
