I was asked by my builder to have prints made @ Kinkos as 24x36 from my dxf's

He also asked me to have some cutaway prints made. Can an elevation view be saved as as dxf? and if so will it be to scale?

If not, is there a program which will acomplish this?

Thanks in advance

Mike,

Yes you can do a File / Export as 2D Drawing and this will save as a DXF and will be to scale. Just select the elevation and Export it.

Great, Thanks Allan.

One question then. For the deisred result to be say (for example) 1/4"= 1', and I am going to save the file as a dxf to send or take to the Kinkos. Is there anything special I should know?

Since asking yesterday I have not had a chance to experiment, but I do not believe dimensions will be included......correct?

It's not working, so maybe I'm doing something wrong.

I go into 3D view, and set a camera.
I use Dynamic Cutaway and take the front off the structure.
I Export 2D drawing.

When I open the file using a CadViewer, it does have the cutaway, it shows the front of the structure.

Mike,

You seen to be talking about two different things and maybe getting them confused.

The cutaway is a 3D image cut from the preferred direction so you can see inside. It can be exported as a 2D 'photo'.

Elevations are on the next button on the toolbar. These will export also as a DXF which will automatically be to scale in a CAD program. I dont think the dimensions export as such but the DXF retains the specifications anyway.

Sorry, I did ask in the original post about saving "cautaway" views as dxf, but maybe it wasn't clear.

I know I can export an elevation view as a dxf. It is a cutaway I am trying to export.

I seem to get the results he wants doing a  "section" , then exporting that view as a 2D drawing, not photo.
