I'm doing a remodel and still modelling the existing scene...which includes a large rock

I could not find a rock or stone within the TFP catalog.....has anyone seen one? If so where do I look?

Not getting anywhere with TFP I fired up Bryce program, inserted a stone from its catalog of size and general shape needed, exported it as .3ds, inserted into TFP catalog and applied a concrete texture....as that is what seemed to match the stone in this project. Note: in the stone object properties in TFP you can adjust the shape a little using "simplify".

Unfortunately TFP does not "smooth" facets well (or at all?) so the stone looks angular.  But you could import the .3ds into another 3D program, add smoothing vertexes/facets, and import back into TFP.  Since my rock is not very smooth in real life, the object was OK as-is for my use, this time....especially at a greater viewing distance.

See image below  and .3ds file in event it is useful for you.

There is a boulder under Landscape, Exterior Accessories, Decorative Accessories.

As a result of this I have found a number of differences in catalogs between V12.0 and V12.1.  I am running both still on 2 different PC's and find a number of Interior Accessories (and Exterior) that are in V12.0 are not in V12.1. In neither version do I have a Boulder under Landscape, Exterior Accessories, Decorative Accessories or anywhere else that I could find, so it looks like your catalog is the same as one of mine Doug and blaisbb is different again.

You can of course import a variety of rocks as photoboards (4 include I think in the Textures list)

However, since I was going to need some rocks soon, I have exported the ones in FP 3D as they were quite good and converted them to 3DS so I have attached these if you want to add them to your catalog.

Thanks for the rocks and the catalog insight Allan

I checked my 12.1 catalog and landscape ext acces. does have one "bolder" (spelling is wrong, should be "boulder")...thanks for the pointer blaisbb

Allan, did you find enough catalog stuff missing in 12.1 to re-install 12.0 and do the save-as .3ds to 12.1?  And how did you compare the two catalogs?  I have never figured out how to print a listing....or did you look thru the windows file folders somehow?

Allan Chesney

Doug,

Neither of my catalogs has a boulder (even spelt wrong!).

I have not actually compared the catalogs completely - sorry but I have not come up with any way of printing a list or getting insight to the catalog itself! All I have done is just visually compare the Exterior and Interior Accessories (so far).  All the missing ones in 12.1 were at the end so were easy to find. (I had the 2 PCs side by side).  All I did was insert ALL the missing items into one BLD file, opened it in 12.1 and used the 'Save Elements to Catalog'.  Bit fiddly selecting each and then the save for each one but it automatically puts them in the correct list so not too bad really - much quicker than going via 3DS.

Thanks for the tip to look for stones/rocks in the TFP textures file folder.

For others, look in this or similar location:
C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\IMSIDesign\TurboFLOORPLAN Home & Landscape Pro\Textures

and set it to view as thumbnails to search visually, or do a search for whatever you are looking for.

I often look here for textures to see the different samples rather than look thru catalog in TFP...find the file name and then look in the catalog.

But I did not remember ever seeing a photoboard stone....but photo boards are easy to spot in this folder visually as they have a lot of pure magenta color (used for transparency effect). Easiest way to search for photo boards is to search for *.bmp (get past all the BM paint chips and then look at the files as thumbnails.

And not you can make your own photo boards by using the wizard or simply generate an image and wherever you want transparency, "paint" (Photoshop or similar) with magenta...and save as .bmp because a .jpg will make some slightly off-color but near magenta that will simply show as a bright color instead of transparency. Look thru the textures folder and see for example gate.bmp and you can imagine how easy it is to "roll your own".

I have tried several programs to open and read the catalog .bdb file and can read it as a .txt file but the data is too scattered to extract any object lists....tho one could search for a key word and at least know if an object is called whatever you are searching for.
I think we have a feature request for better catalog search/find.  I have a database extract of FP11 listing all catalog objects and how to find them and can use "access" to search the files, but that is of no use in TFP 12.x except to hope some names and location indexes are similar.
I'm still trying to do same for TFP12.x
