Punch file import

It looks like the new version of TurboFLOORPLAN (v14) is now out. This feature was not in the previous version (v12). Is the demo version you downloaded actually v14? (I see the Demo now links to 'TurboFLOORPLAN 3D Home Landscape Pro V14 ')

(Since this is new, probably no one has tried the Punch import yet)

I downloaded the V14 trial and also am trying to get this import to work. I have a house plan from Punch! Architectural 3000 and I cannot find a way to import this into TurboFloorPlan.

There is a convert option which converts a Punch! .PXF file, but I can't find any reference to a .PXF file from within the Punch! software. It saves as .PRO and will export to .DXF.

So I can't find much use for a .PXF conversion when the Punch! house plans aren't stored this way (at least not in Architectural 3000 V12.

The website seems to refer to a plug-in to Punch if I am reading it correctly. Maybe that implies you need to install something into Punch and then it will do the correct export for TFP use.

I had that thought as well, but there was nothing added to my Punch! installation nor any option to install a separate module anywhere.

Sorry but I have not found anything on this yet.  The only visibe thing in the program so far is the option to Convert PXF, which opens a dialog box to choose a Punch Exchange File. I have been monitoring the Envisioneer forum too - they seem at a loss so far also.  The TFP Help says the following:

Importing a PXF File
You can import a PXF file generated in Punch! software into TFP 3D. When you import a PXF file, its contents are instantly converted to real 3D building elements.

To import a PXF file:

Select File > Convert > Convert PXF.
In the Open dialog, locate and select the PXF file that you want to import, then click Open. The file is imported and converted.

I have not found anything to plug into Punch. Are you sure it does not already export in this format?

Very little mention of a .PXF format anywhere. The standard is .PRO and it exports to 3d VRML, DXF or your standard array of image type files.The 3D custom object builder uses a .POB format. Nothing I see uses .PXF or exports "drawings" as is suggested in the TFP marketing blurb.

Now maybe they know something I don't, perhaps a new Punch! version is pending with a new file format or .PXF is some old format from old Punch! software. But right now with the latest version of the Punch Architectural Series 3000, there is nothing I can find that would work.

The TurboFLOORPLAN Support web site now has a download for a plug-in to PUNCH that appears to enable exports to TFP.  I downloaded and installed it, but it does not appear to have changed anything.  I am running Punch Home Design AS3000 and TFP 14.  Does anyone know how to export to TFP or save in PXF format?

You install the downloaded file from TurboFloorPlan's site.  It will find your Punch software directory and install a plugin that allows Punch to export an PXF file.  Open Punch and the file you want to export.
On the far right, you should see a push button at the very bottom (last) of the list of 'power tools' that indicates it will export a PXF file.  Push the button and name the file.
start Turbo and select the file/convert option and select the exported file from Punch.

This what I have found about the Plug-in for Punch! H&L Design Suite 14.0.2.

Open the file to be exported in 2D, on the Menu Bar, select Design, then Launch Power Tool....

On the Lanunch Power Tool dialog box there are four visible options, but the scroll bar on the right is visible!
You may not see the PXF Tool - it is invisible, however, if you select/click below the last "Visible" item the Estimator a blank line/box is highlighted. This is the PXF Converter, once highlighted select the Launch button and the plugin will start.

Hope this helps those whom have been as frustrated as I (I found it by accident).

Hi Phantom907,

This is trues for the Punch! H&L Design Suite black box, but not for the the V14 blue box, as it is not Power Tool enable. In the Pro versions, like Platinum, it appears at the bottom of the PT bar.
How was your experience with the PXF conversion?
I did hundred of tests, but it doesn't work well. I saw other post regarding this issue

I was using the V14 Blue Box. Whilst the export is reported as being OK, when trying to convert the pxf file in Turbo Floorplan 3D H&L Pro V14 - it fails and I recieve a Microsoft Visual C++ Runtime Library error which I have not yet resolved.

Same here, and same reported in the other post
I discovered some patterns but according with the info I saw (and if I understood correctly) , Cadsoft is checking this issue
Lets wait for a solution
