Old drawing into new template

I wonder if there is a way to take an old drawing and bring it into the new template, so I can take advantage of the new features? (Worksheets)
I don't see a way to export and import, or copy and past.

Good idea starting a new thread! What do you mean by "old drawing"? You can import DXF and DWG now too I think (in the worksheet area). If you mean drawing as a sketch, then you would have to import it as a trace layer and trace it. It would them become available in the worksheets of course.

I thought it would be easy to export a whole workable drawing (V12) and then import it to the new template (v14).
Of course if I could just (for instance) add new worksheets that work like the new template, that would work as well, but I haven't found a way to do that.

Jeff,

Cant you just open the V12 model in T14 and do the same thing? There was an early bug that caused a crash if you tried to move some walls but if the model is correct you may not need to do that.

Or export the V12 as a DXF and import that into worksheet. May work - have not tried it.

I can export but I don't see a way to import a DXF file.

Hi Dave,

Thanks for posting the patch, it will solve the frustration for some.

Does it fix the disappearing toolbar in the Help dialog box? Also the problem with the new Surfaces tool? (I cant raise the ceiling or roof surface off the floor - you can set the height of one end but the other end stays on the floor. The option is always greyed out, unless I am missing something).

EDIT:  I was missing something. If you set the angle, then it will calculate the height of the raised end, you can then lock that and then the raise the lower end is available.  By default it is locked, lock the upper end and you can then elevate the lower end.  Thanks Dave for pointing that out!

The patch should allow you to just open the V12 model, change it if necessary and add the worksheets, but the import is an option in the menu (Insert menu I think - away from my PC  right now). The DXF becomes editable.

I'm not sure what that patch did but take things away.

No, the help bug is not fixed.
Now with the new template I don't see a way to add a worksheet.
In fact before when you went into view manager there were 4 worksheets available.
They are gone and there does not seem to be a way to add that back.

Yes I did do the pro update.

I wonder if this is the template file issue again. See if the original template file is still there, or try the Metric one (if you are using imperial) you can change it back in Settings and save that as you opening template. If the original one has been replaced also then let of know and I will post mine for you.

Yes I tried that already and the old template works. I will use that as my default.
