Hi Original house is an 8mx6m box with gables facing front and back, extension is to be on side length 6m extending it to 10m. The extension will add a third gable and the new ridge is to be a right angles to the original ridge line. So I put the new roof to extend to the mid length of the old 'box'. It looks ok apart  from in 3D view some of the new roof emerges through the main gable end brickwork front and back, and I found some walls jutting through the second roof. I got rid of those unwanted protrusions by selecting  their props then changing extend walls to set it to the real wall height and just let the gable end brickwork extend.

Cant seem to grid rid of the roof bits though, if I move the edges the ridge connection opens up and leaves a massive gap. In FP3D I think you could set the second roof to stop when it hit the first.

If I knew how to get the current 3D view from TFP then I would attach it the problem is then easy to see

Hi Peter,

Without seeing it, it is a little hard to visualise but the post 'How can I connect those 2 roofs' probably answers your question I think.

You can export the screen view from the File menu or View>3D Real View will render and save it for you. Just click Attachments at the bottom of the forum to post it here. Save as JPG as the forum will not accept BMP files.

Allan,

Have attached Jpeg see above.

NB The 3D real view basic tab after rendering  just gave me a black square.

Thanks

The solution is to have one roof with gables as needed.....but may need to be made by "cutting" into the roof edge line.
I have not done one in a long time but it has been discussed and examples shown in this forum many months ago.

I'm sure Allan can readily desribe what to do or point you to a forum thread when he sees your .jpg

In mean time, suggest you search the forum for key words like "gable"
